Portsmouth Historic Dockyard embodies Britain’s naval past and future and is surrounded by the modern Royal Navy at work. During the 18th and 19th centuries, it was the greatest industrial complex in the world and it is now one of the leading visitor attractions in the country, combining historic ships, leading museums, magnificent historic buildings and docks that have played their part in our islands history.
Visitors are invited to experience history so close, they’ll think they’re there, as they embark on a voyage to some of the greatest warships ever built, Nelson’s flagship HMS Victory, the pride of Queen Victoria’s navy HMS Warrior 1860 and Henry VIII’s favourite ship the Mary Rose. See, touch and smell the history of the Navy at the Royal Naval Museum, one of the country’s leading maritime museums, plus discover the most thrilling, true-to-life recreation of the great sea battles of 1805 at the Trafalgar Experience. Go interactive at Action Stations, the showcase to the modern navy, now featuring the £1million hands-on science and technology InterAction gallery, with large scale interactive exhibits of physical and multi-media challenges.
Entry to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is free. Visitors are welcome to visit the shops, restaurants, cafes and Artists Harbour art gallery without charge. Tickets are only required to visit the historic ships, Action Station and Harbour Tours (subject to availability.) An all-inclusive ticket is priced at £16.50 adult, £12.00 child, £14.00 senior, £48 family (up to 5 members of the same family, maximum 2 adults/seniors, giving one entry to each of the attractions on site and has a life time of a year, so visitors can return to see attractions they may have missed (subject to special events programme.)
