Stansted Park, the former home of the Earls of Bessborough, offers visitors the elegant mansion rooms and the fully furnished restored servants’ quarters in one of the South’s most beautiful stately homes. On Bank Holiday weekends costumed stewards explain how the servants lived and worked in times gone by.
Stansted Park is situated on the borders of Hampshire and West Sussex, in hundreds of acres of park and woodland with one of the longest beech avenues in Great Britain, a sunny walled garden and a newly planted sensory garden.

Forest walks and garden centre, tea room and the salon du chocolat are open all year – and admission is free. Stansted Light Railway runs through the Arboretum (0239 41 3324 for times)
