Celebrating Summer at Twyford Waterworks
The next Open Day at Twyford Waterworks on 1st August has a distinctly summer rural theme. Visiting tractors, agricultural and rural crafts, abundant chalk downland and wildlife will all join together to provide a fascinating day for visitors.
There will also be a focus on the resident industrial narrowgauge railway which will be in full operation, including the newly extended quarry line which volunteers have been working on over the last few months.
Waterworks will be open from 11am to 4pm and admission for adults is just £4.00 with under 16s admitted free. As usual, the site will be fully open with as many engines as possible will be running. Ample free parking and good value refreshments complete a perfect day out for everyone.
Trust Chairman says “this open day tried to reflect our rural location and celebrate summer in style”.
The Waterworks will also be open each Sunday in August for Guided Tours of the site. It is a scheduled ancient monument and visitors on each day will discover the story of their drinking water, both in the past and today.
